What has changed in three years of regulated life during the Corona pandemic?

Today is late November 2023. The world has accomplished everything that was resolved during the Corona pandemic and is now progressing towards the subsequent phase. My life has undergone significant transformations over the past three years, and I sense that I am poised to progress towards the next phase. Naturally, I am not the only one in this position. In this piece, I will elaborate on the effects of the Corona regulations on my life and how it has impacted my growth.

My role has been relatively comfortable as the world has transitioned to remote and online work arrangements.

Depending on the nature of the work, interpreting and translation services can be efficiently handled online. Despite the availability of these tools, prior to the pandemic, many people and companies were reluctant to utilize them. During Corona period, I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of individuals virtually, resulting in enhanced ease, efficiency, and productivity. This year, I am becoming less online enabled, but I believe that I should utilize more of these useful tools to enhance my job performance.

I’ve grown accustomed to relishing the meals I can procure through online ordering

During the pandemic, it became apparent that I could order food for delivery from my preferred restaurants. Although I enjoy dining out, I appreciate having a range of options for my meal, such as a meat-based dish accompanied by a California roll or a side of French fries, sashimi or egg meals, and of course, my preferred brand of beer. However, restaurants usually only serve their own cuisine, whereas with online delivery, such variety is all available! Uber has been operating for the past few years. Until then, only a select number of Japanese restaurants provided delivery or takeout of meals similar to their dine-in offerings. Chinese restaurants, sushi bars, and soba noodle shops supplied comparable food for delivery. However, it was nearly impossible to order single items from other eateries. I recall an instance when I was declined my request to take away pasta from an Italian restaurant. On one occasion, the restaurant provided the food on a plate, but instructed me to transfer it to my own Tupperware. They claimed that it was to avoid food poisoning, however, I suspect the true motive is that they don’t profit from one dish or a small order via takeout or delivery and lack the personnel for deliveries.

I’ve learned that watching comedy videos and laughing heartily is the most effective way to alleviate stress

Before the pandemic, I never watched comedy in any form. I always refrained from discussing comedians, and despite being familiar with renowned comedians, I was never inclined to watch their performances. The reason was just no interested in the comedy. However, amid the pandemic, I found myself spending more time on YouTube, where I chanced upon the comedy duo’s videos. I watched them daily, laughing so much that I shared and laughed with other comedy enthusiasts. Their humor was so hilarious that I spent my days laughing heartily, and often so much that I cried because of the laugh. I was not aware that laughter could make me feel so much better, even though no stress-relieving techniques had worked for me earlier. Laughter has now become my best coping mechanism. I have experienced some difficult times over the last three years, leading me to refrain from casual socialization.  But I found solace in watching comedy videos.  Humor can be a saving grace for individuals, and I sought to contribute to helping others in this way.
